Starting November 9th, 2010 Central Florida For Sale By Owner is proud to support the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) charity. Beginning on this date, a portion of every listing fee (not just profit) will be donated automatically to support this noble project. While we hope this small gesture will make a difference, we also encourage everyone to visit the Wounded Warrior Project website and give whatever you can of your time or money. Every little bit helps! Wounded Warrior Project and charity watchdog groups estimate that 83 cents of every dollar donated to this charity goes directly towards helping the troops. It also meets the 20 points of criteria set forth by the Better Business Bureau.
We all know someone who has served bravely overseas or is currently serving in conflict areas around the world. While no amount can repay such sacrifice, helping the Wounded Warrior Project is a small token of appreciation that Central Florida For Sale By Owner can show in support of our troops. This support is important because, as WWP states, "The greatest casualty is being forgotten."
What WWP does:
The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower wounded warriors. Its purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured men and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. WWP is a national, nonpartisan organization headquartered in Jacksonville, FL.
How WWP does it:
- Wounded Warrior Project Packs
- These packs are filled with essential care and comfort items such as clothing, toiletries, playing cards, and more - all designed to make a hospital stay more comfortable. Severely wounded service members receive backpacks as they arrive at military trauma units across the United States. They are also given TCP's or Transitional Care Packs to provide immediate comfort for those evacuated from field facilities.
- Warriors to Work
- A transitional program to help servicemen adjust back to civilian life. This includes certain skills, training, and job placement assistance.
- Wounded Warriors Disabled Sports Project
- This is a partnership with Disabled Sports USA that provides sporting programs for severely disabled veterans year-round. It is for all who have been wounded in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the global war on terror.
- TTA or Transitional Training Academy
- The goal of this academy, in partnership with Wounded Warrior Project, is to empower today's wounded warriors with the tools they will need to return to life, to the working world, to the competitive spirit, and to the world-class family known as the American Workforce..
- Family Support
- Wounded Warrior Project steps in to provide support and relief programs for family, spouses, and caregivers because they are integral to the successful recovery of each wounded warrior. This includes retreats and counseling services for the family as well as the warrior.
- Advocacy
- This charity works to advocate for wounded warriors and their families. They work at the Federal level and provide a voice for the thousands of warriors they represent. WWP keeps warriors informed about changes in laws and programs that will impact them and their families. The Wounded Warrior Project creates, advocates for, and helps implement legislation that will support warriors and their families long into the future.
